Heat pump sales in Europe decreased by almost 5% in 2023 following a decade of growth, and market observers anticipate that this year will see more of the same. The European Heat Pump Association (EHPA) calls the decline "remarkable" following a massive 37.6% spike in 2022. Around 90% of the European heat pump market is represented by the 14 European countries whose data was used to compile the most recent EHPA statistics, which were made public today.
Heat pump sales decreased in France, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Denmark, Austria, and Switzerland last year. Portugal, Belgium, Norway, the Netherlands, Spain, and Germany had an increase, although not enough to counteract the overall decline. Current UK data, which hasn't been factored into the overall computations yet, indicates a 4% increase in national sales over the previous year.
